The tiny state of Delaware, on the Atlantic seaboard, offers many opportunities for the culinary student, starting with the fact that the state bird is officially the Blue Hen Chicken. Career outlooks for those in food services and related occupations are good; through 2012, over 1,800 jobs are expected to open up (with a total population of just over 780,000 people, that's a good portion of the jobs available).
Many fine institutions offer culinary and hospitality programs in the state, most notably the University of Delaware, Delaware Technical and Community College, and Delaware State University.
