Orange County covers a large geographical area and has a diverse ethnic background which has made the area the home of many different types of restaurants. In addition, a regional culinary style has developed over the years - California Cuisine. This style is based on a chef's use of fresh, local ingredients in menu planning. A large agricultural base in the state helps to provide some of the best meats, fish, and produce to the innovative chefs who choose to embrace this style of cooking. The range of cooking styles and eateries in Orange County can be enticing to culinary students. The county also has a solid tourist base, with people visiting its beaches, hills and canyons, and theme parks. There are many hotels in the area, providing students of Hospitality Management programs with plenty of opportunities to enhance their studies.
